Justin Case asked: The technological singularity is approaching. What science fiction books do you recommend for the purpose of mentally preparing for, and affecting, what according to singularitarians like Ray Kurzweil may happen during the coming 40 years or so? I want science fiction that treats issues on the coming continuingly accelerating technology development and its political consequences, stuff that is interesting for humanity’s development; paradise engineering scenarios as well as disaster scenarios. I want the kind of hardcore, science-based but still mind-blowing science fiction ideas that singularitarians say may be relevant to our political (and also individual) decisions in our REAL life the coming decades.
PS Anyone tempted to answer that I shouldn’t rely on science fiction if I want to prepare for the future, please google “technological singularity” and read about it first!

Joe asked: I am a novice writer. I like to science fiction and fiction in general, but science fiction is my forte. However, I want to get published BAD, I really want to have a lit agent consider my work. What kind of science fiction or fiction in general is in demand in the literary industry that agents really want to see good works of? OK asked: Many publishers won’t publish for authors that have never published before. So where do you start? Many popular authors started with short stories in science fiction magazines, but those magazines are not very popular nowadays, so there aren’t many places to get published, and they can be real competetive since there are so few. What can I do?

It is set in the past rather than the future and has many fantasy elements. The technology level is not comparable to most other science fiction. I am curious because I have written something of similar situations.
In my book, there are multiple planets and space travel. There are also ancient prophecies, ‘magical’ items and some worlds have little to no technology beyond modern means. Some have even less. Would this be considered science fiction, even though it is not futuristic and doesn’t have common sci-fi elements like robots?
