cloverfield 2008 - a question?

baron blood asked:

That story “Cloverfield” seems to copy one famous older science fiction classic flick from the 50´s. It totally reminds me of a crazy giant Kraken in “IT CAMES FROM BENEATH THE SEA which was a very low budget production in 1955″, where the crazy Kraken destroys San Fransisco, again arranged & effected by Ray Harryhausen.

Iam sure if my Bava loyalist fellow fan /Fright Film Fan will be answering it soon. ths alot

I am trying to remember the name of this book. it is a classic, science fiction, futuristic society book?

MorningStar asked:

I read it for honors English in middle or high school… It is about a futuristic society where people are born into specific categories and specific jobs. The main thing I remember is that babies are ‘programmed’ by having specific information played to them over and over again.

I believe people eat by taking a pill, there is also birth control involved and I believe *** is pretty much viewed as a recreation. There is a sort of love story or relationship involved between a man and a woman. I believe this was written between 1920s and 1960s…

It is a really interesting novel and a classic I would like to read again. I thought it was 1984 but it isn’t (even though I decided to go ahead and read this too - several pretty interesting parallels to today’s society). Anyway if you know what novel I am talking about please let me know!
YES!!! Great!! I am so happy you could remember it! NOw I am going to check it out! :D!!!

I know I am crazy but I need to read it again!

Thx!

i am used to Reading jane austen novels but now that i have read them all i would like to read some type of story that contains un ending love, betrayal, infidelity, and most importantly a HAPPY ENDING something fun to read.
i would prefer an old british novel maybe something during or before the 18 century, but if not that’s ok as long as the story is juicy and full of true love.

i dont like magic storys nor anything with supper natural themes nor science fiction nor vampires! if no one dies in the story that is better.

Human race will split into two races? Who believes this?

littlemissmay asked:

The human race will one day split into two separate species, an attractive, intelligent ruling elite and an underclass of dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures, according to a top scientist.

100,000 years into the future, sexual selection could mean that two distinct breeds of human will have developed.

The alarming prediction comes from evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry from the London School of Economics, who says that the human race will have reached its physical peak by the year 3000.

The report claims that after they reach their peak around the year 3000 humans will begin to regress

These humans will be between 6ft and 7ft tall and they will live up to 120 years.

“Physical features will be driven by indicators of health, youth and fertility that men and women have evolved to look for in potential mates,” says the report, which suggests that advances in cosmetic surgery and other body modifying techniques will effectively homogenise our appearance.

Men will have symmetrical ****** features, deeper voices and bigger penises, according to Curry in a report commissioned for men’s satellite TV channel Bravo.

Women will all have glossy hair, smooth hairless skin, large eyes and pert breasts, according to Curry.

Racial differences will be a thing of the past as interbreeding produces a single coffee-coloured skin tone.

The future for our descendants isn’t all long life, perfect bodies and chiselled features, however.

While humans will reach their peak in 1000 years’ time, 10,000 years later our reliance on technology will have begun to dramatically change our appearance.

Medicine will weaken our immune system and we will begin to appear more child-like.

Dr Curry said: “The report suggests that the future of man will be a story of the good, the bad and the ugly.

H G Wells’ Science Fiction novel The Time Machine (which was later adapted into two films - this picture is from the 2002 version) the human race has evolved into two species, the highly intelligent and wealthy Eloi…

…and the frightening, animalistic Morlock (as seen in the 1960 film version of the classic book)

“While science and technology have the potential to create an ideal habitat for humanity over the next millennium, there is the possibility of a monumental genetic hangover over the subsequent millennia due to an over-reliance on technology reducing our natural capacity to resist disease, or our evolved ability to get along with each other.

“After that, things could get ugly, with the possible emergence of genetic ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’.”

Dr Curry’s theory may strike a chord with readers who have read H G Wells’ classic novel The Time Machine, in particular his descriptions of the Eloi and the Morlock races.

In the 1895 book, the human race has evolved into two distinct species, the highly intelligent and wealthy Eloi and the frightening, animalistic Morlock who are destined to work underground to keep the Eloi happy.

do you think the idea of turning the old black n white science fiction and monster films is such a good idea?

swann32 asked:

i think the old black n white films should be left alone i think the idea of turning such classic films for example the earth vs the flyng saucers into colour is just a bad idea just think of how the classic 1933 picture of king kong would be like in colour. i think the colourisation in these pictures only ruins the picture and the decade they first came out in

I’m looking to start a new author, something unique and with a message. I have a pretty eclectic so I’ll give you a little background information to point you in the right direction. My favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut and I really like the others in the dark humor/absurdist genre as well. I also enjoy classic literature like Hemingway, Camus, Sinclair Lewis, and George Bernard Shaw. Another genre I like is classic science fiction from the 30s to about the 70s; Bradbury, Asimov, Clarke, ****. Hopefully that’s enough.

Please NO Twilight

granolabar55 asked:

I like classic books since I haven’t read a lot of them but I just would like to know if there are any books that are like a must-read. I really like almost anything except I don’t really like romance, science-fiction, or murder/mystery. Almost anything else I like and stuff with some of that in it is okay. So if anyone can suggest some books that would be great. Thanks!
