Why is it that there are very few good science fiction films made these days?
Over the last decade there seems to have been an endless supply of formulaic horror/thrillers such as the Saw films but the classic space movie seems to have all but disappeared.
We’ve had rotten tomato like AvP and Solaris (2002) but where has the quality production and script writing of the 1980’s and 90’s gone?
Notable exceptions include Sunshine and Serenity but why don’t we see well made epics like Aliens, Close Encounters and 2001 A Space Odyssey anymore?
