Bet asked:

Do you have any science fiction book suggestions? I am doing a independent study school project where I read science fiction books [I have to choose the books to read] and write a review or report for each one. I need classic, new, cheesy, serious, movie or TV tie-in sci-fi, and any other types of science fiction [a large variety is needed]. Please do not suggest books with inappropriate material [adult situations]. Reading level is not a problem, I tested at the college level for reading. Thank you!

LifelessSpace asked:

I am working on a script I want it to be a science fiction classic and I love movies such as Event Horizon and Aliens

The script starts in the endless abyss of space. “Camera pans out from a single star as it does thousands more stars can be seen, space except for the alien masses of rock is empty and devoid of life. As the view of the stars expands we see a superior star ship appear. Behind is a massive whirl of stars and on the event horizon of the wormhole is the black darkness the ship has come from. This superior star ship as the camera expands appears ever smaller in the universe.” script extract

The ship is carrying military personnel along with space tourists they are desperate to see beyond our universe and colonated space. some of the military wanted more than just a ride on the space elevator and could not afford the trip so signed up in the military. The ship encounters a core orbital platform devoid of life. On a 28 day depressurising cycle (every 28 days everything
gets blown out into space. They discover licks of plasma throughout the ship and that according to the logs this platform is billions of years old. They would dock and take the platform back to Earth, but our character wants to see more of Space. The plasma synced creatures attack and they learn of technology so devestating it threatens the very existence of their universe
Do you like it or are you being sarcastic?

I am starting a summer reading list and would like some suggestions of fantastic books?

Bet asked:

I have read at college level since third grade so that will not be an issue. When I was younger I enjoyed the older book series like Betsy and Tacy, the “Shoe” books, Anne of Green Gables, All of a kind family, books by Francis Burnett, books by Jules Verne, et cetera. More recently I’ve liked the two Jane Austen books I’ve read (Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility), books about King Arthur (fiction, non-fiction, doesn’t matter really), Kiki Strike series, some of the science fiction I’ve read (a few of the books by Charles Sheffield, The Hitchhiker’s series, Stargate SG-1 series (not exactly classic reading!), etc), and more books that I really don’t have the space to list. Please do not suggest Twilight or Harry Potter or anything similar to those series, I am not really fond of teen fantasy or romance. I think I might enjoy the classics so please suggest a few of those. Please do not suggest books with adult material (like sensual material). Thanks.
Also, if possible please rate the subject material G, PG, PG-13 or R.
So far on my reading list I have Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and Do No Harm by Karen Miller.
I am in my mid-teens so I would like more mature books, not just children or teen books.
And I also read Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen.

shrek asked:

Have read all of Asimov, Arthur C Clark, Jules Verne, And somebody said Anne McAffrey and I read most of hers as well ( Well I didn’t read the Doona trilogy, and the powers that be, or Peytabee in her case)

So what’s next? Plz classify them under diff. headings as in Popular/Classic, or Your favs( Not very popular, but you like them?)

Ah yes, and someone suggested Steel beach , and Titan (john Varley) So I read them as well. Now what?

I am reaching the end of my student life, so am reading these things at a fast pace( 2-3 books a week is all i can manage , what with exams coming.)
Oh, I forgotto say that I have read all of Michael Crichton except Eaters of The dead, and Vector.

Couldn’t find them!
And lots of Robincook things, bt they don’t come across as sci-fi, I said that cos someone suggested robiin cook.

I meant proper scifi, like in Asimov

Mrs. J.Black asked:

I need one for English because we have to choose a genre we haven’t already read. I could also read a Nonfiction, Mythology or historical fiction book.
Just to get a sense, my favorite books are Twilight by S. Meyer, Ender’s Game by O.S.Card and All American Girl by Meg Cabot.
If you know any books I might like, please speak up! Thanks!
