Fright Film Fan asked: …as cheesy and simple as the original “The Day the Earth Stood Still” was, it STILL was a very poignant and important film, in the milestone history of science fiction. Now, apparently, even this classic film is garnishing a remake; here is the trailer…
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=46513
…man, talk about taking the concept of ‘poignant’ to an utmost & downright dark and grim level; if this is just the teaser…a taste of what is to come, as far as this film’s release, and what is to be contained therein, I absolutely cannot wait to see what the robot Gort, looks like, in whatever conception they’ve seen fit to come up with….
…what are your thought and opinions???

Srewsna Oohay asked: I think the story was about a guy going back in time to a medieval town when he realizes that the town is going to be attacked fairly soon by the mongols and he tries to help the town get ready for it using what he knows from the present. Any ideas of the title would be appreciated.

stinedreel asked: I am a big reader. I am huge on science fiction and fantasy books. But some of the books we read in school, ex: The Scarlet Letter,The Giver, To Kill a Mockingbird etc. Theses books were all written a while ago and are now considered classics. I was wondering ic any of you could give me some more books that are in this same category almost? And I have another quest for you.
I want books that I can read today, that my children will be learning about in school in 30 years.
Thank you.
Ray

Shalala asked: How does this sound to you? Its the intro sentence but I dont know how to make it sound right
“A Clockwork Orange, the science fiction novel written by Anthony Burgess is often known to be a classic read”
or maybe i should say that its known for being innovative and bold?
Okay then. How about
“The majority of young readers today are apathetic when it comes to reading older books. The science fiction book “A Clockwork Orange” by Antony Burgess is a classic read and is well known for being innovative and bold to almost any individual”

EvilFairies asked: Ok, so, my faaaaaavorite used book store is going out of business. :’(
They are having a huge going out of business sale starting this week, and I’d like to use the opportunity to buy books that I wouldn’t have considered buying before, in a variety of different genres.
The genres I’m looking for include (but are not limited to):
Regular Fiction
Comedy
Historical Fiction
Classics
Suspense / Horror
Fantasy
Etc…
Please name your favorite authors, the genre he or she writes in, and a few of their best books (in your opinion). The only restrictions I have are:
A. No science fiction. None.
B. No cheesy romance (a la Nicholas Sparks.) I like romance as long as it is not the main story line of the book.
C. I’m not really looking for the James Patterson-type “thriller”… I went through a phase of those and have grown a little tired of them.
Thank you all so much!
I’m 25 and enjoy books that are aimed towards adults.

sharon asked: Hi all,
I have received a gift of an ipod nano. I’m not great with computers so hoping some kind person can point me in the right direction.
I would like to know of any sources of non-music material (such as podcasts or audio books) to listen to other than itunes. I particularly enjoy comedy, history, classic fiction, genealogy, science, travel, small business advice and entertainment news. Open to other suggestions of interesting material.
I would also be interested in any sites with free sample chapters of audio books so I can try before I buy. Some of the books are pricey so be nice to hear the first chapter before purchasing.
Any recommendations or websites for beginners would be most helpful. Thank you.

Stephanie C asked: My friend is asking me for 3 titles of novels that I want for my birthday.. But I don’t really know what to choose!
Anyone have any recommendations? (Feel free to name more than 3!)
I don’t really want any classics though.
I love romance and science fiction/fantasy. But they don’t necessarily have to be only in those genres.
Thanks!
(:
Okay.. Seriously, no Twilight or Gossip Girl or ANYTHING along those lines.
Edward

alexb1373 asked: Hi I am going travelling for a few months soon and am trying to decide what books to take to keep me occupied through the many long bus journeys ahead. I am not a fan of science-fiction or horror. I can put up with a crime, as long as it is well written. I would like:
1. A Long Classic - one of those whoppers you never usually have time to read.
2. A Classic
3. A Memoir/Autobiography
4. Non-Fiction - something political/ philosophical/ theoretical, a “makes you think” book.
5. Light-Reading - a good old indulgent romance book.
6. A Modern Classic - a good page-turner.
7. Something Topical - I am mostly travelling in Eastern/Central Africa, so an African fiction should make the list.
8. A Play
9. Something Different - something creative and out of the ordinary.
10. The One Everyone Should Read - out of everything you’ve ever read, the one you would recommend the highest, whether it be the most affecting, emotional or simply enjoyable.
