sarah asked:
Does anybody have any good that I can read. I have to do 6 book reports a year and we have to pick the books. I am a freshmen in highschool and am in a christian school so no curse words or anything with adult content. It also has to be a book that you can learn something from. Here are some example genres - classics, fiction, historical fiction, christian fiction, general information, biography, science fiction, and romance. These are just examples, they don’t have to be from just these subjects.

Please help, I am not good at choosing books. So can you post the book and what you learned from it.

Any Jane Austin book. Also if you want some christian love stories look for Lori Wick she is very good. Also there are these Love Inspired books that are also christian books.
Devil on my Heels
It takes place in the 50s and 60s and a teen girl goes through living in a town with racism. She also has to deal with people she knows being in the KKK. She also has to decide whether to follow her family or what she knows is right. I HIGHLY recommend you read this. I read it and I am your age and it is really good. Even if you can’t read it for the school report you should read it anyway.

“To Kill a Mockingbird”, “Catcher in the Rye”, “Where the Red Fern Grows”, any of “The Little House on the Prairie” series, “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”, “The Great Gatsby”, “Lord of the Flies”, “Moby Dick”, “Robinson Crusoe”, “A Tale of Two Cities”, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, etc.
They are all great classics.
Good luck!
I think the C. S. Lewis Space Trilogy would be perfect!
A Room of My Own by Tatlock
A Girl of the Limberlost by Porter
Izzy, Willy, Nilly by Voight
Treasure Island by Stevenson
No Promises in the Wind by Hunt
Where the Red Fern Grows
Pollyanna by Porter
A Gown of Spanish Lace by Oke
Julie by Marshall
Fahrenheit 451
It’s difficult with those restrictions. Right off, it eliminates some great books, such as “The Great Gatsby, “Catcher in the Rye,” “Lord of the Flies,” all of Shakespeare, and so much more. Shame. Still, you might enjoy:
“White Fang” by Jack London: cruelty, courage, friendship
“To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee: bigotry, pre-judging people
“War of the Worlds” by H.G. Wells: courage and cowardice in times of disaster
“The Island of Doctor Moreau” by H.G. Wells: what happens when men mess with Mother Nature
“The Diary of a Young Girl” by Anne Frank: where to start? Magnificent.
“Red Badge of Courage” by Stephen Crane
Please don’t limit what you may learn from these books by my notes. I read these so long ago. This website might help:
“Tuesdays with Morrie” (Mitch Albom) is a good book that is adult in theme without (I think) violating any of your limitations, and it offers much that prompts reflection.
Of Beetles and Angels. This is the memoir of an African refugee in Chicago (from about age 7 to his 20’s). He learns from his father and brother to make good choices and to value each individual, no matter how humble or unappealing. My book group loved this book, as did my teenage niece, who passed it along to her friend. It’s a short book, too, and better than my description makes it sound.
