I like anything from science fiction to romance..classics to more modern stuff. Some of my favorites are Wuthering Heights, Angels and Demons, 1984, The Kite Runner and Harry Potter. Ideally I’m looking for stuff that is not TOO “teen-y” (though I will admit I read the Twilight series and loved it lol).
I really appreciate any suggestions. Or even just telling me some of your favorite books would be great.
Alice

“Little, Big” by John Crowley is a great epic fantasy novel.
“The Diary of a Young Girl” by Anne Frank should be read by everyone at least once.
There are so many-
The Dark Tower series (7 books) by Stephen King
The Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris (anything by Sedaris is hilarious)
He, She, and It by Marge Piercy
The Hobbit by J.R. Tolkein
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
Marley and Me by John Grogan
…. the list goes on
hello. I am an ‘oldie’ compared to you, when I went thru High School, I graduated toward ’soft’ science fiction. That being said, I read some Andre Norton, more fantasy than science fiction. Later I’ve read and enjoyed books by CJCherryH, ‘Finitys End’ bieng one of those. Enjoy, the world is ‘always’ out there! Even when we don’t read the same literature, the effort of reading is very worhwhile! enjoy : }
my favorite book is Impulse by Ellen Hopkins, as well as her other books Crank, Burned and Glass
Tithe by Holly BLack, and Valiant and Ironside that go with it are wonderful
Go Ask Alice, Cut, Speak and the Lovely Bones are also really good
(i don’t read romance books)
Eragon and Eldest of course are great books.
i hear good things about Pendragon, though i’m honestly not interrested in them that much. but they do make a decent read.
Animal Farm by Gorge Owell(i think, not sure) is great. we read it in lit as a required read this year and i loved it, and Anthem from last yeah, that was great too. i loved the progression as he came to him being a we in society changed to i. amazing, truly.
hmm, i love a number of books…. i have a decent list on my fp.
haha, yeah, the stuff on there under my favs is great too. i read on there a lot. hope u find something u enjoy. have fun. ^_^
Christy by Marshall
A Dog’s Life by Mayle
A Walk to Remember by Sparks
The Shop on Blossom Street by Macomber
The Day of the Storm by Pilcher
A Long and Fatal Love Chase by Alcott
I’m rereading A.E. Van Vogt’s Null-A novels, “Worlds of Null-A”, “Pawns of Null-A”, and “Null-A Three”. “Pawns of Null-A” was the first sci-fi novel I ever read (at age 12), and was hooked. It introduced me to sci-fi, and I’ve been a fan of Van Vogt and the Nul-A books ever since.
First off, second vote for Sedaris’ work and “Life of Pi”, amazing stuff.
Then to add to the list, “A Prayer for Owen Meany” by John Irving, “The Mists of Avalon” by Marion Zimmer Bradley (she writes tons of sci-fi, a long series called Darkover, I haven’t read them, but I love her writing so I am sure they are good), and anything by Barbara Kingsolver, especially “The Poisonwood Bible”)
Naughts & Crosses series by Malorie Blackman
Ghost Boy by Ian Lawrence
The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory
The Vampire Diaires by L.J. Smith
Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz
Seven Deadly Sins series by Robin Wasserman
Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld
Here goes:
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book along with a brief summary of adult content. There is also a “Reader’s Choice” list of favorite books, and a list of heroine sorcery fantasy books.
Also these: . Lots of lists, but I especially like the Harvard Classics list - all the books that I should have read, but (mostly) never did.
Finally, these: - pick your genre, find the best books ranked by how many awards they’ve won.
I hope this helps.
Jim,
