I am an elementary teahcer. I love to read many genres including classics, fiction, children’s fiction, some science fiction, “beach” novels for women, mystery (especially for young adults, and many more. I am going on a trip and need some good reading material. What do you recommend?

I just finished the most fabulous books!
The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler was pretty good. I am a huge fan of her and I thought I might like the book. I ended up getting caught in the lives of all the characters.
The Scandalous Summer of Sissy LeBlanc by Loraine Despres was a really good read. It’s more of a summer/romance book but its not wicked trashy, it’s really quite funny.
And my last and favorite book is called Stardust by Neil Gaiman. Its a love story but it’s more science fiction-fantasy. It’s so cool. I don’t even have words to describe how much I liked it haha. Hope this helped!

Some great books I just read are:
    The Glass Castle
    The Memory Keeper’s Daughter
Son of a Witch (Sequel to Wicked)

Some great children’s book authors are:
    Andrew Clements (Frindle)
    J.K. Rowling (duh, right?)
    L. Frank Baum (Wizard of Oz, if you haven’t read them, try them)
Gordon Korman (No more Dead Dogs: riot)
    Madeleine L’Engle
    C.S. Lewis (Lion, Witch, Wardrobe)
    Jack London
    Beverly Cleary
    Katherine Paterson

    Adult authors and/or series:
    Terry Pratchett (Discworld Series)
    Sophie Kinsella (Shopaholic Series)
    Jennifer Weiner
    Marian Keyes

    Classics:
    The Great Gatsby
    Catcher in the Rye
    Great Expectations
    H.G. Wells
    Oscar Wilde
    Nathaniel Hawthorne

These are all kind of off the top of my head, hopefully other people will give you all kinds of suggestions.
I like to go to Half-Price Books and buy as many books as I can. They are cheap and if I don’t like them I didn’t spend as much.
    Have fun reading!

One of the best books I have read in a long time is The Book Thief by Marcus Zusack. You’ll find it in the young adult section but it wasn’t written specifically for that age group, both my dad and I couldn’t put it down. Zusack captures childhood perfectly and the story pulls you in so that you feel right along with the characters.
