Try Old Magic by Marianne Curley, but not if you don't like romance. Well, it's not completely based off of romance, but still.

Also, Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer. Definitely don't pick up if you don't like romance, because these are mainly romance. That's all I have with "normal people."</description>
