What all can qualify as science fiction?

I know that very technical stories like one of Jules Verne’s are science fiction, but what about stories of werewolves, etc.

Does this count as science fiction? Does it count as fantasy fiction? Is fantasy fiction a subgroup of science fiction?

Risu E asked:

1) what’s an interesting theme?
2) should it be more science or more fiction?
3) would you want to learn interesting/important facts?
4) would you like it to have romance?
5) should it be complicated, but still undertandable or should it be simple?
6) Do you even like science fiction?
Even if it’s science fiction, it’s sceince so it has to have facts, real things that exist not only fction…
7) does it bother you if the information could be right, but it really isn’t?

Tyvm. I love science fiction and i’m just curious. I’m also a writer so i wanna know.

I think the story was about a guy going back in time to a medieval town when he realizes that the town is going to be attacked fairly soon by the mongols and he tries to help the town get ready for it using what he knows from the present. Any ideas of the title would be appreciated.

stinedreel asked:

I am a big reader. I am huge on science fiction and fantasy books. But some of the books we read in school, ex: The Scarlet Letter,The Giver, To Kill a Mockingbird etc. Theses books were all written a while ago and are now considered classics. I was wondering ic any of you could give me some more books that are in this same category almost? And I have another quest for you.

I want books that I can read today, that my children will be learning about in school in 30 years.

Thank you.
